I am a second year Masters of Pubic Affairs candidate at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at UT. I graduated with my BA in Communication Studies and U.S. History from Northwestern University in 2014. Throughout high school and college I had the pleasure of babysitting for a number of families regularly throughout the school year and summer with the kids ranging in age from newborns to 16 years old and caring for anywhere from 1 to 8 kids on my own. In addition, I was a Vacation Bible School leader for 3 summers at my church for kindergartners. I also spent the past two summers working for six weeks as a Residential Advisor at the summer camps provided by the University of Iowa Belin Blank Center, for gifted children. At any one time 150 kids were in my care 24/7, many of whom fell on the Autism and Asperger spectrum. I have done everything from providing before and after school care, hurried over last minute when parents needed a date night, stayed overnight when parents were away, and driven kids to an assortment of extracurricular actives. I have really enjoyed spending time with all the children I've worked with over the years, we have always connected so well, building great relationships, making memories together, and learning as much (if not more!) from them as they learn from me.
